About us
Established in 2017, Owner Alex Derrick originally ran the business alongside his successful construction business Ringtail Carpentry. Soon enough the native bee bug bit hard and it became evident that Alex's existing trade qualifications in automotive engineering and steel fabrication would suit the native bee world perfectly. Ringtail Carpentry was sidelined and Spicers Hollow Native Bees - ringtail carpentry was formally established. Alex still holds his QBCC Carpentry licence.
Spicers Hollow Native Bees is based in Brisbane but we also keep bees at our small farm at Spicers Gap in the Scenic Rim, one hour South West of Brisbane. This allows us to keep bee species separate and preserve wild colonies.
Spicers Hollow Native Bees is a dynamic native bee business that specialises in native bee rescue and building innovative products to service the growing native bee industry. Our products are of the highest quality and we proudly supply professional native bee keepers, Councils, schools and hobbyists throughout Queensland and NSW.
